INESC - Inovação - Instituto de Novas Tecnologias INOV is a private non-for profit organization, which resulted of a strategic restructuring process of INESC - Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores (Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering), a private, non-profit association founded in 1980, dedicated to research, technological development and advanced training in information technologies and telecommunications. INOV is dedicated to technological development and transfer, products and systems development and systems integration in electronics, telecommunications and information technologies. INOV's main purpose is the participation in technological development and innovation processes in close co-operation with enterprises and universities. In order to fulfill its object, INOV matches its scientific partnerships to the demands of the national or foreign industrial operators and enterprises, and their needs in terms of innovation and technology transfer. Furthermore, INOV supports industry and business, private or public, providing them with assistance in their own development activities and promoting their technological achievements.

INOV has accumulated strong technical expertise, in the following main activity areas, each one based on several technologies: Telecommunication Equipments and Services, Access Networks, Mobile Communication Systems, Sensor Networks, Network Architectures and Protocols, Speech Technologies and Systems, Communication Systems for People with Special Needs, Navigation Systems and Fleet Management, Remote Surveillance Systems, Control and Electronics Development, New Technologies for Aerospace and Organizational Engineering.

Relevant research activities of INESC Inovação (INOV)
INOV brings its expertise in networking and streaming, namely due its participation in many national and  European projects, namely related with wired and wireless heterogeneous networks. Among these projects we refer OLYMPIC and My-e-Director 2012 which dealt directly with video streaming activities. In OLYMPIC project INOV was involved in the design and development of a streaming server for real time streaming multimedia, and in the study and development of QoS mechanisms for real time multimedia streaming services. In the My-eDirector INOV is developing new architectures for personalized video streaming for WebTV and IPTV, as well as the study and development of mechanisms for dynamic adaptation of video in heterogeneous networks and the enhancements of signaling protocols for personalized video streaming architectures.
